Ethiopia: Youth urged to promote culture of tolerance, dialogue in Africa

Peace Journey in Africa, Hiwot Adane(WIC) – Peace Journey in Africa 2000 promotion, a youth driven initiative, said Africans need to discharge their duties of promoting the culture of tolerance, understanding, dialogue, consultation and respect so as to eradicate poverty and civil war from Africa.

The remark came here today at the departure of the first peace land journey from the African Union Head Quarter to Djibouti that was organized by Peace Journey in Africa 2000 promotion and Africa Peace Caravan under the motto “Stop civil war at Mama Africa.”

Initiator and President of Peace Journey in Africa 2000 promotion, Hiwot Adane, said Africans need to join hands and manipulate indigenous knowledge to efficiently utilize the abundant resources available in the continent.

She further said Africans should strive to avoid poverty, civil war, cultural and economical dependency.

Senior Policy Officer with African Union Commission (AUC), Oumar Diop, on his part said the initiative should promote employment which is one of the major causes of conflict and migration in Africa.

He said AUC is ready to work with youth with such initiative who works with full dedication to the development of the continent.
